Steps in the
Interior Design Process

While every project is unique, this step-by-step guide may help navigate the design process and what to expect from your designer at each meeting.

Initial Consultation

This conversation is the launch pad for every collaboration. We will get to know one another and establish an overview of the project including the preliminary budget range and timeline. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the design process. The consultation will take place over the phone or in the designer’s office.

2

In-Home Assessment

We will meet in your home to review the space(s), take photos and complete measurements. This is an information gathering session and is free of charge.

3

Project Kick-Off Meeting

At this meeting in office, we will present your personalized design concept, budget and timeline. We will review the Design Agreement in detail. Once these have been approved, you will provide the design retainer.

4

Project Development and Selections

Once the concept has been approved, we create the detailed design scheme which includes fabrics, furniture, fixtures, selections and materials. Pricing is collected. Every beautiful detail is considered.

NOTE: This is what your designer is doing behind the scenes. The amount of time needed for this step will vary based on the scope of the project.

5

Presentation Meeting

Once all of the details are in place, we will schedule a Presentation Meeting. You will have the opportunity to review each carefully made selection representing the best choices for your space. The best design is created through a partnership between homeowner and interior designer. All decision makers must be present at this meeting to ensure everyone’s ideas, questions and needs are addressed.

NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 may be repeated until all elements are agreed upon.

6

Sign-Off

Once every detail of a design has been approved, execution can begin. Timely approval of the design scheme is crucial for maintaining accurate pricing and ensuring the availability of the design elements.

7

Purchasing, Delivery & Installation

After completing the appropriate paperwork, we will manage all of the details, project schedule, product orders/delivery/installation, trade partner coordination, contractor specification sheets and subcontractor meetings. All that’s left is for you to enjoy your fabulous new space!
